Meet Pøbel, a graffiti and street-art artist from Oslo
Pøbel (meaning hooligan) is a pseudonymous Norwegian street artist based in Stavanger. He is best known for the Getto spedalsk (Ghetto leperous) project, decorating abandoned buildings in at the Lofoten islands in the north of Norway, along with notable collaborator "Dolk". Both were later commissioned to decorate the central railway stations in both Oslo and Trondheim. One of Norway's foremost street artists, his work all over Europe has been documented in a number of books on the subject. His stencil paintings are mostly sight gags. One series, for example, portrays superheroes such as Superman and Batman in decrepit old age. His age and real name is not officially known.
In July 2012 Pøbel curated the street art event Komafest in Vardø, Norway, where international street artists participated to decorate a fishing community heavily hit by depopulation. (Wikipédia)

Anti-Drone Street Artist Arrested, Charged With 56 Counts
"A street artist who hung satirical posters criticising police surveillance activities has been arrested after an NYPD investigation tracked him to his doorstep. With the help of a small crew, the artist now identified as Essam Attia had placed the fake Big Brother-style adverts in locations throughout Manhattan, using a fake Van Wagner maintenance van and uniforms to avoid detection."*
After creating satirical posters about the NYPD and recent efforts by the Department of Homeland Security to "facilitate and accelerate the adoption" of surveillance drones by local police departments, Essam Attia was tracked down by the NYPD's "counter terrorism" unit and was arrested. Will he be treated more harshly for his stance? Ana Kasparian and Kim Horcher (Host, Nerd Alert) discuss Attia's mission and if his struggle will ignite any change.

Giant Graffiti Art in Rio Revitalizes Port Area for 2016 Olympics
Brazilian graffiti artist, Toz, is painting a giant mural in Rio de Janeiro's port region, as the area gears up for the 2016 Olympics.
The vibrant artwork is courtesy of Brazilian graffiti artist Toz who, together with his friends, is filling the 98-foot tall mural with bright colors and random caricatures.
The artwork is already the biggest of its kind in the city, and was commissioned by Lojas Americanas and B2W, two of the biggest brands in Brazil, which own the building where the mural is being painted.

"My vision was to design something where there was enough space for my artist friends to showcase their work and also for me expose my work. That's why I had this idea of these triangles, as if they were small windows into different worlds and ideas."
To fill the space, Toz and eight other artists have used 1500 cans of spray paint so far.
Rio still has some way to go to catch up to other world cities, such as London and Berlin, when it comes to street art, but Toz believes the talent and the spaces are there.

"Graffiti was born in those areas—the more distant and neglected areas—and today here we are, painting the side of a building, so I think not just here, but in any place which is destroyed and neglected is a perfect place for graffiti artists."
For the people who work and live in the area, the colorful mural is a pleasant addition to the bleak surroundings.

Rio de Janeiro's port region will be one of the focal points of the 2016 Olympic Games.
City servants are investing millions of real (pronounced re-Al) in new transport links, road works and new housing, to accommodate the thousands of visitors expected during the summer of 2016.
